The sand couldn’t be better but it’s blazing hot so you’ll need to bring beach shoes and at least a towel to sit on. Restrooms, public showers, drinking fountains and trash cans are located at several locations along the beach for easy access. you won’t have to travel far to get a snack, but keep in mind things cost more when sold beach front so you may want to pick up your snacks ahead of time if you are on a budget.
Waikiki Beach is a stunning city-lit walk after sunset and a great way to spend some time with that special someone. Parking can pose a bit of a challenge. Convenient parking must be payed for and can be hard to find. You can find easier, a few blocks in from the beach, if you don’t mind a little walk. Visitors lucky enough to be vacationing in a hotel right on the strip can easily walk to the beach and leave all their extras back at the hotel.
Like any public place, it is advisable to leave your wallet and expensive items back at the hotel, especially if you are traveling alone. You will be able to relax more not having to constantly watch your belongings on the beach. Don’t let this worry you or scare you off the beach. Most people around are watching out for each other and there are plenty of officers patrolling the beach and strip to scare of troublemakers.
You can get all your questions about the beach and water answered by one of the numerous lifeguards on duty. The basic rules of this beach are to respect other people’s space, stay on the watch for an occasional runaway surfboard ,and as with any beach, don’t turn your back on the ocean.
